Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Playmaniac Studios ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the mobile game Words Affair (the "Game"). We've tried to keep it short and plain.
1. Summary
- Words Affair is an offline-first single-player word puzzle game.
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, contact list, photos, or location.
- Your puzzle progress is stored only on your device. We do not upload it to our servers.
- In-app purchases are processed by Google Play. We never see your payment card details.
2. Information processed on your device
The Game stores the following locally on your device using Android's standard storage APIs (Hive and SharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a feature that shares it (for example, the share-result button):
- Levels you have completed and your unlock progress.
- Settings you choose (such as sound, haptics, and accessibility preferences).
- Counters used by the Game's in-game economy (for example, your remaining hint balance).
- A randomly generated, anonymous device-local identifier used to seed the daily puzzle. This identifier does not leave your device.
Uninstalling the Game removes this data. You can also clear it at any time from your device's Apps → Words Affair → Storage settings.
3. Information we receive through third parties
Even though we do not collect personal data directly, certain third-party services we use may collect limited information when you install or interact with the Game. These services act as independent controllers of any data they collect, and their own policies apply.

4. In-app purchases
The Game may offer optional in-app purchases (for example, hint packs or a one-time Supporter purchase). All payments are processed by Google Play. We receive a receipt confirming the purchase, but we do not see or store your payment card details, billing address, or any Google account credentials. Refunds are handled in line with the Google Play refund policy.
5. Permissions the Game requests
- Internet access — required to download fonts on first run, validate in-app purchases through Google Play, and (in future versions) sync optional cloud features. The Game otherwise works fully offline.
- Vibration / haptics — used for tactile feedback when you tap tiles. You can disable this in settings.
6. Children's privacy
Words Affair is suitable for general audiences but is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Game, please contact us at support@playmaniacstudios.com and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
7. Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We only share information with the third parties listed in section 3, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their function. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Playmaniac Studios, our users, or the public.
8. Data retention
Local game data persists on your device until you uninstall the Game or clear its storage. Purchase records held by Google Play and RevenueCat are retained according to their own policies and the records-keeping requirements that apply to them.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to withdraw consent. Because we do not store identifiable user data on our own servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly by you on your device (uninstalling the Game, clearing its storage, or managing your Google Play account). For anything else, write to us at support@playmaniacstudios.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. International users
Playmaniac Studios is based in India. If you use the Game from outside India, please be aware that the third-party services listed above may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States, under their respective safeguards.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the Game evolves — for example, when we add cloud sync, accounts, or analytics. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, surface a notice inside the Game. Continued use of the Game after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
