Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the mobile game Words Affair (the "Game") and any related services provided by Playmaniac Studios ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Game, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by law in your country) to use the Game. If you are below the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms on your behalf.
2. Licence to use the Game
Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to download and use the Game on a device that you own or control, solely for your own personal, non-commercial entertainment.
You agree that you will not:
- copy, modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works of the Game;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, puzzle data, or algorithms of the Game, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Game or its content;
- remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notice (including copyright or trademark notices);
- use the Game in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
3. Updates and changes to the Game
We may update, change, or discontinue features of the Game at any time, with or without notice. We may also release new puzzle content, adjust difficulty, or rebalance the in-game economy as part of normal live-service operation. We are not liable for any loss caused by changes to or discontinuation of the Game.
4. In-app purchases and virtual items
The Game may offer optional in-app purchases — for example, hint packs or a one-time Supporter purchase — sold and processed by Google Play. By making a purchase you agree to Google Play's terms in addition to these Terms.
- All purchases give you a limited, personal licence to use the purchased items inside the Game. You do not acquire any ownership rights, monetary value, or transferable property.
- Hints, virtual currency, and other in-game items have no real-world value and cannot be exchanged for cash, goods, or services outside the Game.
- Purchases are generally final. Refund requests are handled by Google Play under its refund policy. Statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived are not affected.
- We reserve the right to manage, regulate, modify, or remove virtual items at any time, including in response to fraud, error, or abuse.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use cheats, exploits, automation, or modified clients;
- interfere with the Game's servers (when applicable), security mechanisms, or other players' enjoyment;
- attempt to obtain in-app items through fraudulent means, including chargeback abuse;
- use the Game to infringe the rights of others or to engage in unlawful conduct.
6. Intellectual property
The Game, including its source code, artwork, sound, animations, puzzle content, trademarks, and the "Words Affair" and "Playmaniac Studios" names and logos, is owned by Playmaniac Studios or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Except for the limited licence granted in section 2, no rights are transferred to you.
7. User feedback
If you send us suggestions, ideas, bug reports, or other feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that feedback to improve the Game and our other products, without obligation to you.
8. Third-party services
The Game uses third-party services, including Google Play (for distribution and billing) and Google Fonts (for typography). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability or content of any third-party service.
9. Disclaimers
The Game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. To the extent your local law grants warranties that cannot be excluded, those warranties continue to apply.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Playmaniac Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Game. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Game is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us through the Game in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) INR 1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Game at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Game (including any purchased items) if you breach these Terms or use the Game in a way that exposes us or other users to harm or legal risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, surface a notice inside the Game. Your continued use of the Game after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any non-waivable rights you have under your local consumer-protection law, the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Game.
